syncreon Ireland raises €1,800 to fight back against cancer!
On 23rd June, Ennis, Ireland hosted its first Relay for Life, and a team of syncreon Ireland employees attended to show their support! Our employees enjoyed a fun-filled day and raised €1,800 for the cause!
Relay for Life is a global, charitable initiative sponsored by the Irish Cancer Society. Relays are 24-hour events that celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and raise awareness through fundraising and activism.
Participants spend the day walking laps around a course or track to show their support, and because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. Over a dozen communities in Ireland host Relay for Life events each year, allowing teams of friends, family and community members to come together and fight back against the disease.
An average of 40,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed in Ireland each year. With the number of incidents still growing, cancer has become the second largest cause of death in the country. By 2020, 1 in 2 of us will get a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime. There are more than 165,000 people living with and beyond cancer in Ireland today. Relay for Life aims to change those statistics.
On behalf of syncreon’s Communications Committee and The Irish Cancer Society, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our employees who participated in this event. The first Relay for Life in Ennis was a great success. Leader Verona and everyone on syncreon Ireland’s team are already fired up for next year’s Relay!
