New customer Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has nominated syncreon automotive to become their sole logistics service provider for all inbound material.
Operations, which begin in December 2007, will be tendered from an external warehouse close to the Rolls-Royce assembly plant in Goodwood (West Sussex).
“The tight time frame for this project, with only 6 months from receipt of RFQ until SOP, is manageable successfully only due to the strong and effective team approach between Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and syncreon”, stated Michael Schuetrumpf, Director Business Development, BMW Group (syncreon automotive). “Strategically, this award is very important to further expand our growing business with the BMW Group in Europe. We are very proud to work for one of, if not the most prestigious automotive brand in the world”.
The scope of this business includes receiving, storage, kitting, sequencing and cross-docking of all Rolls-Royce material, as well as shipping and transportation to the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars plant in Goodwood. The operation will initially handle the complete bill of production parts, together with additional special materials like leather, wood veneer, chemicals and MRO (non-production) material.
